Description
Wold Top Brewery was founded in 2003 by arable farmers Tom and Gill Mellor. Based high on the Yorkshire Wolds where the hills roll down to the North Sea, ours is a family business that is run by the third and fourth generation Mellors and we pride ourselves on brewing superior quality beer from home grown barley and water that is gently filtered by the chalk of the Yorkshire Wolds and drawn from the farm's own borehole.

Pours ruby/copper with a large fading head.Nose shows roasted malt, caramel, floral hops and cocoa. Not bad.Flavours also include soft roasted malt, caramel and faint floral hops. Seems a bit light on.Body is watery with very low carbonation. But oh so drinkable.

Bottle from Sainburys, Kidlington, part of the beer challenge range, consumed at home Mon 19th Sept’ 11 Pours gold with a hint of orange, its crystal clear in appearance with a filmy white head. Little too much boiled sweet at first with a tinny backbite, little wheatiness, its no great but its a grower, likeable beer. A6 A4 T7 P3 Ov12 3.2

Cask at The Hop Pole, Aylesbury, Bucks, 12.09.11 Pours amber with a white head, looks good, despite a very slight haze. Nice temperature to the beer which is the one thing that occasionally undermines the otherwise excellent cellaring of the beers at this pub as they are all too often just a tad warm. Touch earthy, with some bitterness, citrus and a dry finish. Like this despite its quite rustic and earthy credentials. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov13 3.4

500ml bottle from Sainsburys beer competition 2011. Clear gold lasting thick white head. Gently herbal hop aroma. It’s a decent beer in the mouth, with some good malts. Then some decent earthy peppery nettley finish. Yes, it went down pretty quickly whilst cooking.
