Bottle 33 cl. Pours a clear, dark brown with an orange hue and a tiny, beige head. Sweet overripe, dark, dried fruits, nutty. Smoky, iodine accents. Rich, sweet body, caramel and molasses, somewhat rustic woodiness, tannins and smoky whisky accents. Very odd that a Bourbon barrel should give iodine and Islay notes. Very boozy finish. 030323

Sample (thanks omhper!). Ruby colour, small off-white head. Aroma is fruity, biscuity and some chocolaty tones with some dried fruits too. Flavour is dried, fruity, some chocolaty, fruity and some alcohol. Actually quite boozy.

ABV: 11.5%. Clear medium to dark brown amber colour with a small average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting to diminishing, off-white to beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, toasted, caramel, sweet malt, dried fruit, barrel - wood, alcohol. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet with a long duration, sweet malt, caramel, toasted, malty, dried fruit, barrel - wood, barrel - vanilla touch, rich. Body is medium to full, texture is oily - smooth, carbonation is soft to flat, finish feel is warming and light alcoholic. [20230210]

(Bottle) Mahogany colour with brief, beige head. Malty nose with notes of dark bread, caramel, oak wood, whisky, a touch of peat, treacle-toffee, dried apricots and chocolate. Malty taste with oak wood, caramel, dark bread, treacle-toffee, apricots, butterscotch, almonds, chocolate, bourbon and a mild spicy bitterness in the finish. Almost full body, quite sweet. Tasty and warming, with a gentle wood character. Very nice.

Bottle 33 cl. pours a thick, opaque black with a small, brown head that dissiates quickly. Unclean, woody, gluey note atop the roasty fluid. Rich, sweet body, overripe fruit and molasses. Warming finish. The barrel is simply unclean and does nothing good to an otherwise great base beer. Surprising how many raters cannot detect a bad barrel aging. 060223
