Bottle. Pours cloudy nearly black with airy tan head. Clear aroma of grain, with notes of yeast and touches of coffee. Sweet flavour of malt, caramel and chocolate, with notes of coffee and roast. Strong alcohol presence, especially towards the finish. Roasty and alco-bitter aftertaste. Okay, nice but not top notch.

Bottle, 11.5%. Bread and smoke aroma. Black colour. Small stable frothy brown head. Sweet and bitter, bready flavour. Sticky sweetness partly balanced by a rough but nice enough bitterness. Good warming alcohol presence.

33 cl bottle on October 20, 2014. Thanks to Knä (non-ratebeer).Hazy dark brown color, small light brown with yellow in it head. Smoke, wet stones, salty, liquorice, charcoal, grainy, alcohol scent. Malty, sweet, alcohol, grainy, licuorice, sand taste. Alcohol finish. Malty, grainy, toasted, roasted aftertaste. Feels a bit raw and young. Medium to fizzy mouthfeel, medium bitterness that is dry, warming alcohol.

Tap at the Jeffrey. Pours yellow with white head. Nose is light citrus and plenty of smoke. Tastes of ash, grapefruit, lemon, and some hay. Thin bodied and slightly bitter on finish.

0,33L bottle. Pours clear golden with off-white head. Small head stays. Aroma is manure, hops and malt. Flavor is smoke, citrus, malt and manure. Finish is smoke, some more manure and citrus. Overall: ok smoked beer, but nothing special.

50cl can from Vínbúðin, Borganes. Pours clear , quite pale olden with a small, but lasting white head. Did get quite a surprise here, didn’t look at the can so I thought it was just another industrial pale lager, but it was certainly something different. At the closer look I saw it was Borg and that explains a great deal. Fairly mild malty aroma, but with a noticable herbal and lightly grassy notes and hints of citrus. Moderate sweet with mild, but quite pleasant flavours and a decent bitterness. Certainly a decent pilsner in the German tradition. Clear golden color with compact head. The aroma is hoppy and a bit animal. This beer develops better with the flavor; quite dry, caramelly, with strong bitterness, bitter orange peel, some other citrus fruits. But the final is unemotional.

Pale blond color. The aroma is very floral, even a bit musky; honey. Sparkling and fairly dry mouthfeel; some honey and wax flavor. Short final.
This mead is quite empty, the wax character is too strong, but the aroma is nice. I suggest to try brewing a sweeter version.
