Bottle at home. The colour is slightly hazy deep brown, and pretty headless. Sweet aroma of dried fruit, caramel and roasted almonds. The flavour is more malty and a little roasted. Theres heather, leather and some chocolate and licorice. Has a slick mouth feel, and a light bitterness. A sweet and balanced ale. Decent enough.

500ml bottle, batch 216, bought at Vinmonopolet Langnes. Noisy pour revealing a low, tan-coloured head and a hazy coal black red-tinged body. Moderate aroma of chocolate malts. Flavours of grainy chocolate, caramel and earthy malts. Dry malt-fruity ending. Fine bodied. Smooth in the mouth. Alright with the lamb (Tromsø 25.12.2014).

Biggish beige head. Clear deep red body. Roasty smoky mineraly aroma with earthy notes. Nice smoke character, which is similar to the Bamberg beech character, but noticeably different. Roasty alder smoke taste with juniper campfire notes. Weird, because I don’t think there’s actually any juniper in this. Mid-bodied. Mild, mealy, relatively flat mouthfeel. Dry roasty earthy campfire aftertaste with ashy wild berry and juniper notes. Complex and full of character. I really like this. Malt character recognizably similar to other Stjørdalsøl. Misleading to call it porter, really. (0.5l bottle, from Meny Oslo City. Batch #200.)
