Handpull cask at the Townhouse, Ely. Honey brown, fairly flat. Jasmine, weeds, nectarine. A bit of fenugreek? The Amarillo is strong with this one. Sweet, juicy taste with a bittersweet aftertaste. More spicy gardening flavours. It’s original and enjoyable but doesn’t have that wonderfully judged balance evident in the best of TBM’s beers.

Tried at the Nottingham beer festival 2015. Ruby black colour with a tan head. Big hoppy citrus and pine aroma with the roasted malt. Decent bitter taste and aftertaste.

Cask at the Townhouse, Ely. Golden and cloudy with dapples of white head. Lots of lacing. Orange zest and spice (with the telltale coriander at the forefront) in the aroma. Taste is bittersweet and quite hoppy - feels almost like a cross between a golden ale and a witbier - but the finish is a bit soapy. I like it but it’s not particularly focused.

Cask handpull at Mill, Cambridge. Light gold with a small white head. Modest grapefruit peel aroma, with a slight astringency. Bitter taste with juicy pineapple notes. Astringent aftertaste with a hint of soapiness. Good but the bitterness jars a bit.

Handpull cask at the Mill, Cambridge. Light gold, hazy. An impressive white head due to natural carbonation. Massive grapefruit and pineapple aroma which threatens to reach out and bite you on your nose. The taste is gorgeous as well, pleasantly bitter without being overpowering. Gentle palate. My dear Lord. This belies its strength so well. I’ve had full on IPAs with less flavour and character. I try to guard against homerism but my local brewery has come up with another winner.

Cask at Cambridge Blue. Very dark brown and quite flat, with just a slight ring of khaki head around the edge. Not so much smoke in the aroma as coffee, a bit of liquorice. Full sweet, sweet taste of port, alcohol, and yes a bit of woodsmoke, although the smoke factor is reasonably low. Thick oily palette. Very good although by TBM’s insanely high standards this goes down as only above average...

Cask at the 21st Egham Beer Festival. A pale straw pour with a thick white head; pleasant tropical fruit aroma; and a taste to match; then a dry grapefruit finish. Lots of character for such a low ABV.
