Cask handpump at The Prince of Wales, Ledbury Herefordshire, Saturday 31st October 2015. Dark brown in colour with an off-white head. Fruity and nutty with a touch of cocoa powder and a good tingly hoppy bitterness, in good nick and pretty impressive especially considering the low abv. A7 A4 T7 P3 Ov14 3.5

Cask at the Kings Arms, Wasserloo, thanks to Wingmanwillis for the tip off 27/03/15. Extremely dark mahogany brown with a decent khaki covering that retains well. Nose is earthy roast, light pine, dusty hop presence, red berry linger, blackcurrant, trace of cocoa powder. Taste comprises dark malts, earthy hop, liquorice, charr, mineral strokes, pine needle. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close with a spattering of hop bitterness. Decent enough CDA, packs in plenty of flavour for a sub 4% number.

hand-pulled half-pint at the 24th Shrewsbury CAMRA Beer Festival on 6th Nob 2014. Copper hue to the amber body, thin white topping. Nose is light caramel/toffee and slightly fruity. Taste was again malty with toffee and caramel flavours tempered with some bittering hoppiness. Mini fruitiness mid taste with a bittering finish. Nice brew, but overshaddowed by stronger brews either side of it at the festival: a good session ale for the future, but not when on a mission like the day I tried it.
