Description
Rowton Brewery was established in October 2008 by Jim Preston. Purpose built in a converted Victorian cattle shed on the family farm the micro-brewery has plenty of character.
Rowton Brewery has been supplying the good people of Shropshire with traditionally brewed real ales since 2008.
Consistency is maintained by getting the basics right every brew by using high quality Maris Otter malt, the finest hops sourced from round the world and water drawn from our own borehole.
The theme around the breweries logo and merchandise is based around the Rowton Meteorite that landed in the village of Rowton in 1876, which is believed to be the only Iron Meteorite that has been seen to hit the Earth in the United Kingdom. The Meteorite is currently in the Natural History Museum in London.

Hand pulled half pint at the Wrekin Inn, Wellington on 23rd February 2026. Almost black bodied, beige roof that stayed the distance. Malty, Stouty and Porty, all very well balanced and tasty.

Hand pulled pint at the Wrekin Inn on 16th December 2025, Christmas Quiz Night, came second to last out of 22 teams! Pass the Terry's Chocolate Orange, this isn't as sweet, but it's close. One pint was enough for me.

Clear pale gold with a frothy white head and light biscuit malt on the nose. It’s biscuits all the way, with a touch of lemony bitterness and a dry finish.

Hand-pulled pint at the Wrekin Inn on Sunday, 19th October 2025. Didn't realise I hadn't rated this version (often drink this and have already written about the other two on this site). Anyway this is a very pleasant Bitter, golden/copper in colour with a white crown on top. Nice, easy going blend of UK hops (I think) on a solid malty base.

Hand pulled pint at the Wrekin Inn on 9th October 2025. Clean golden body, white crown. Nice, easy going APA with more hop bitterness than malty sweetness.
