From its location in the heart of the Northamptonshire, the Great Oakley Brewery produces a wide range of first-class, award winning real ales.

Founded in 2005 in the small village of Great Oakley, this family-run business moved to Tiffield in 2012 where it continues to build the brewery’s excellent reputation. Over the years it has gone from strength to strength with its beers winning a number of prestigious awards.

Cask (backlog). Golden colour with a small white head. Aroma is citrus, nectar, wood, some honey and quite sweet overall. Flavour is citrus, nectar, some fruits, wood and mild honey. Pleasant and smoothly balanced.

Cask gravity at GBBF 2015 day 2. Mahogany brown caramel coloured with a halo of light cream head. Flavour is composed of nutty toasted grains, semi sweet, dried fruits, slight grainstore. Flavour is composed of nutty, semi sweet, light liquorice, choc. Dried fruit. Palate is eatery. Light semi sweet sugars.

Cask (handpump) @ GBBF 2014, Great British Beer Festival, London Olympia, Hammersmith Road, London, England W14 8UX. [ As Great Oakley Tiffield Thunderbolt ].Clear light to medium yellow color with a average, open and frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, hay, light moderate hoppy, citrus, fruit. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, fruity, pale malt, sharp bitter. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20140813]

Cask at the chesham brewery shop. Opaque dark brown / black coloured pour with a lasting loose tan head. Aroma is woodland berry, tart fruits, raisin, bit of coffee, ash. Flavour is big rough coffee, woody, spicy yeast, charred wood. Bit of booze. Palate is full, sweet, moderate cask condition. Long lingering woody roast and berry.

From cask. Pours cloudy yellow with a small white head. Aroma is fruity and light toasted. Bitter, peachy and citrusy. Bitter and crisp hoppy finish.

Keighley Beer Festival 2014. Dark with a reddish-brown glow and a thin head. Despite its low strength it feels full-bodied with plenty of roasted malt in both aroma and taste and a subdued but lingering aftertaste.

Cask at GBBF ’14, day 2, 13/08/14. Clear light golden with a well appointed white covering. Nose is pale malt, citric tinged, grassy, lemon rind. Taste comprises light bread dough, lemon rind, straw, orange pith. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Decent GB, flavoursome and sessionable.

GBBF Day 2. Cask. Lightly hazy gold beer, untidy white head. Palate is light and semi dry. Mild fine carbonation. Light sweetish malts. Sweetish floral tones. Touch of lemon and citrus. Light dry finish. Not bad.
