Description
Canteen Brewhouse is proud to be Albuquerque’s longest-standing brewery, serving our first beer back in 1994. Over the years, we’ve won over 150 local, national and international awards, but we’re most interested in our loyal following of folks who share the same passion for great beer. Join us at the Canteen Brewhouse or Canteen Taproom for a pint, or take home a six-pack, crowler or growler. We want you to believe in beer, too!

On tap at brewery. Not picking up sweet at all, must just be in name only. Slick, dark, dry bitterness. Oily texture, some sweetness near the end, but pretty much a straight up porter.

On tap at the brewery. Comparing to a Kostritzer, head is lacking. Aroma is spot on, hinting at the dark roast grain base, but somehow comes off too sweet in taste. Perhaps a bit slick for a dark lager. Nice try however.

On tap at brewery. Not enough of the rye is allowed through, making this just average. Except for the name, no indication of the use of rye, except a slightly tawny hue.

On tap at the brewery. Opens with wonderful outdoorsy aroma, average pour, copper body. Taste equal parts malt and hops, but finishes sharp, favoring the hops.

On tap at brewery. This is a solid stout, this close to being something special and just falling short. Minimal head sets the tone, normal roast grain aroma and taste, and a texture that’s just shy of velvety. Good, tasty and robust.

Cask at GBBF ’15, day 3, 13/08/15. Clear chestnut brown/amber with a moderate off white covering. Nose is rich booze, sherry notes, rummy barrel, Soreen malt loaf, dark fruits, prunes. Taste comprises rich dark fruits, spice, raisens, fruit cake, booze tunes, light barrel. Full bodied, fine carbonation, warming close with hints of rum. Decent enough strong, a little too hot to be a great, but solid enough.
