Description
Canteen Brewhouse is proud to be Albuquerque’s longest-standing brewery, serving our first beer back in 1994. Over the years, we’ve won over 150 local, national and international awards, but we’re most interested in our loyal following of folks who share the same passion for great beer. Join us at the Canteen Brewhouse or Canteen Taproom for a pint, or take home a six-pack, crowler or growler. We want you to believe in beer, too!

Cask gravity at GBBF 2015. It pours deep red-amber with a tiny off-white head. The nose is rich, oily, sweet, big boozy boost, rum, stewed fruits, toasted brown sugar, fruit cake and vanilla. The taste is rich, sweet, sticky, chewy malt, oiliness, fruit cake, sugar cane, wood, vanilla and light spice with a surprisingly short finish. Full body, soft carbonation and sticky mouth-feel. I really like the aroma, but this could get a bit cloying after a while. Good fun anyhow.

GBBF Day 3. Cask. Lightly hazy amber beer, no head. Palate is smooth and silky, modest fine carbonation. Smooth malts, nice caramel. Nice smooth rum with a little rum baba. Whisper of spice. Some dried fruits underneath. Mostly caramel and mellow rum. Light finish. Hides the abv well.

32oz crowler thanks to Elise. Pretty legit IPA. Malty and thick, this is no dextrose one-dimensional ride the fresh hops IPA. Thick caramel amber-brown body. Foamy, steady, glass-rimming head. Luscious malt depth. Juicy hop tones. Deeper than most IPAs malt wise, almost has an amber malt feel. Classic, solid US IPA.

Sample at GABF 10/03/2014, thanks to my sis for assistance with note-taking. Black pour with a medium foamy light brown head that recedes gradually. Patchy lacing. Aroma of chocolate, coffee and malt. Medium body with flavors of roasted coffee, chocolate and malt. The finish is roasty with a cocoa and coffee aftertaste. Above average overall.

Sampled from the tap at the Canteen. Pours a clear amber with a white head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma has notes of light grass and citrus with some sweet grains. Flavor has much more citrus that has a bit of sweetness and a sweet grain backbone.
