Canteen Brewhouse is proud to be Albuquerque’s longest-standing brewery, serving our first beer back in 1994. Over the years, we’ve won over 150 local, national and international awards, but we’re most interested in our loyal following of folks who share the same passion for great beer. Amber, bright. Nice pumpkin aroma. Nice gourd taste, no spice, and a mellow caramelly malt character. Only a tiny bit of nutmeg shows up late.

Golden-amber. Not that much aroma. Mild toasty, caramelly taste. Quite sweet in the finish. Not very Bavarian - too thin, malts don’t seem Germanic, it doesn’t seem lagered long enough. OK American lager.

Dark brown. Not much head. Has a rich, toasty aroma with lots of chocolate. Rich milk chocolate palate. Moderate bitterness. Full-bodied.

Slightly hazy. The aroma is quite spicy. Peppery, spicy, coriandery taste with mild maltiness. Not really a wit - like some sort of American spiced wheat.

Draught, Santa Fe location. Amber with a slight haze and thin head. Big, assertive hop aroma - woody with grapefruity accents. Pithy bitterness with nice and very subtle brown sugar sweetness. Rich, earthy and again slightly grapefruity in character. Very good, balanced, easy-drinking IPA.

Light golden colour. Has a plasticy character that I also found in the ’28’ Brewmaster’s Special. There’s some light spicy hop in there as well. On the palate, more of that plasticy, ethanol character, and very little hop. A big miss.

Amber-brown. Loose head. The aroma is mostly nutty, and a little bit toasty. Very nutty palate. Smooth with sweet maltiness. Very drinkable brown that stands out from other browns.

Dark brown. Some haze. Low caramel head. Rich and roasty aroma is straightforward stoutiness, maybe a little bit nutty. Creamy front, with a touch of roast acidity late. Mellow roast, toast and nut character. Probably a bit strong for this type of stout, though.

Il Vicino Elsas Hop Elixir from Canteen Brewhouse

Hazy golden. Earthy and lightly fruity hop aroma. Smooth for an IIPA, the beer has a light citrus note, accent of both tropical and orchard fruit and a fairly mellow caramelly malt character. Good, and pretty quaffable for the style.
