Description
Our Brewery was founded in 1993, the idea of Bill Allingham, the youngest son of the family. Edward Allingham, Bill's elder brother has since taken over the brewery and runs it as sole proprietor. Fast forward to present day. Edward Allingham's youngest son Matthew Allingham is now Head brewer of the mad brewer range and Brewery manger and shares the role of head brewer with his dad of the leatherbritches brewery range of beers. with the ever-increasing demand for the superb award winning beers Early in 2002 equipment was purchased to bottle beers using traditional methods. This is still our method of choice today. We are also proud to distribute our cask ales to over 150 real ale pubs and inns across the country and look forward to regaining contact with our wonderful customers in the near future.

The brewery has occupied three sites since opening in 1993. In 2011 the brewery moved to the current location at the Brewery Yard near the Tap House in Smisby village.

21/1/2023. Bottle shared at the first ITFC 2023 beer share. Bought direct from the brewery. Pours clear golden with a small frothy off-white head. Aroma of citrus, stone fruits, yeast, malt, grass, light herb. Moderate sweetness, medium bitterness and body. Oily, average carbonation. Nice bitterness to finish. Not bad.

Panda at home from Grumbo, cheers Graham, 08/01/23. Extremely dark mahogany brown with a tan covering that clears edgeward. Nose is dried fruits, light roast, cocoa powder, brown bread. Taste comprises mellow roast, toffee, hint of liquorice, dried fruit esters, raisins. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Okay porter.

27/12/2022. Bottle at the ITFC Christmas beer share. Bought direct from the brewery. Pours clear dark ruby brown with a small frothy off-white to beige head. Good looking beer. Aroma of dried fruits, malt, molasses, liquorice, dark fruits, nut and light spice. Moderate sweetness and bitterness. Moderate body, slightly creamy, soft carbonation. Nicely done light porter.
