Description
Cat Asylum operates from what was once a plough workshop and is still one of the best preserved Georgian workshops that exist in Nottinghamshire. Parts of ploughs and repaired agricultural equipment lie around undisturbed as they have been since Walter Bealby ceased trading in the 1930s when the buildings were largely given over to a part time farm and full time cat sanctuary.

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up at Pigs Ear. Pours deep, black-brown with a large, frothy mocha head. Rich, rich stuff, with a lot of hard dark malt character, some nice lightly buggy accents, bitter dark chocolate, sturdy roast, scorched earth. Medium to full bodied with delicate carbonation and velvety texture. Lightly warming finish, dry, with lots of ashy roast, bitter baking cocoa, more mellow brett accent, old torched wood. Really nice depth to this one. Lots to work through, to mull over. Great beer. Haven't had anything like this in a while.
