Description
Cat Asylum operates from what was once a plough workshop and is still one of the best preserved Georgian workshops that exist in Nottinghamshire. Parts of ploughs and repaired agricultural equipment lie around undisturbed as they have been since Walter Bealby ceased trading in the 1930s when the buildings were largely given over to a part time farm and full time cat sanctuary.

750ml bottle. Doddington Hall Farm Shop. Light haze on a pale gold. Very decent sturdy white foam. Nose is quite mineraly up front, surprisingly. Lightly wheaty pale malt. Hops come across slightly astringent and a little lime like. Taste is well balanced sweet pale grain and piquant leafy hop bitter. Solid mouthfeel with some oiliness. Fine to brisk rolling carbonation. Lime leaf hop bitterness to finish. Super tasty gear and nicely out of the ordinary.

Bottle. Doddington Hall Farm Shop. Clear copper colour. Big old foam settles down and lasts fully. Nose has lightly spicy rye like grain. Hint of coffee chocolate. Nice sweet bready notes. Bit of a metallic thing going on, unfortunately, but overall it’s pretty enticing. Taste has a bittersweet character throughout. No sign of the metal thing. Creamy on the palate with rolling foamy carbonation. Bitterness comes on at the finish. Nice. Definitely a bit different.
