Description
Dorset Nectar artisan cider is naturally fermented from 11 varieties of West Country cider apples grown on our family run farm. The sun ripened apples are whole crushed and pressed at the orchard’s cider barn, then patiently nurtured to create a smooth, delicious cider that is really fruity in taste and bursting with flavour. We hand crafted both of our hydraulic presses, the largest using two 58 tonne rams. We press using a traditional rack and cloth method and are renovating an old twin screw 1863 press from Chard.

500ml bottle from Micro Beer Crate, online. Light cloudy gold, quite a lot of white bubbly retention on top for a cider. Aroma has a bittersweet but fruity dessert apple and barnyard funk aroma. Taste is sweet apples, barnyard, slight tartness, a light bitter and dry note in the finish. More mellow that the aroma suggests but its enjoyable and fruity. A very consistent cidery.

500ml can from Micro Beer Crate, online. Clear deep gold cider, a few bubbles on top. Aroma has a dessert apple, brown sugar, tonne of orchard funk. Taste is semi-sweet, slightly tangy dessert apple, wood, funk, hint of caramel. Light to medium bodied, semi-dry, semi-sparkling. A lot of semi's but its a good all rounder of a cider which I guess is what it is trying to be.

On tap at Hops, Crewe (presumably BIB / gravity but poured out of my sight). Pours golden amber with virtually no head. There’s a really strong aroma of freshly cut apple peel. In the mouth it is sweet and juicy but with occasional sharpness. Flavour is mushy apple sauce with some hints of cloves and flowers. There’s still a slight sweetness in the finish, but it then becomes increasingly dry. I was going to say this was too sweet for me – but the finish changed my mind ! Decent.
