Description
Powderkeg are freedom-loving beer obsessives carving our own path with curiosity, creativity and defiance; this is free-thinking beer.

But what is Free-Thinking Beer? We look beyond the established ideas and opinions to revolutionise a style to create something fresh, interesting and always outstanding. In Cut Loose, we re-imagine a classic German-style Pilsner by pepping it up with New Zealand hops; it’s a great example of how moving past traditional techniques can elevate a beer beyond expectations. For maximum accessibility our beers are also Gluten-Free and Vegan.

Cask at The Anchor, Hartland. Aroma ain't great but that might just be the stinky table I'm at. Otherwise this was a great cask pale ale that gave some hops etc.

Hand pulled pint at the Anvil Inn, Shifnal Shropshire on 23rd October 2025. Clean and clear golden amber body, white topping. Fruity and soft feel to this, light bitterness towards the finish, pretty good for a 3.4% brew.

330ml can from the Happy Vintner in Tiverton. Drank at home while doing a BBQ in the back garden on 17th May 2025. Nice red hue to the autumnal coloured body, off white head. Mini citrus bite below a malty base line. Mild toffee sweetness before the citrus hops kick in.

Cask at Bird In Hand, Stafford. Pours a hazy golden yellow with minimal almost white head and good lacing. Floral hops to the fore in the aroma, plus hints of yeast and tropical fruit. In the mouth it is sweet and juicy with a creamy texture but also a little underlying bitterness. Flavour has floral hops and mango with traces of orange and peach coming through later. Sweetness lasts into the finish. This is quite nice and definitely refreshing – I’m not sure what makes it a session IPA rather than a pale though.
