Description
Cider was a hobby until 2015, now it is very much family life.

We made our first batch of cider as most do - from the apple tree in our garden. Turns out we were born to be cider makers! We started Napton Cidery the very next year, with the sole mission to collect unwanted apples from our village and surrounding orchards to make something wonderful. From pressing a simple 2000 litres in 2015, we now press over 90,000 litres per year, all sourced from small, traditional orchards in Herefordshire to support sustainable British farming.

750ml bottle from Scrattings. Sparkling, golden colour with pinkish tinge, short-lived white foam head and aroma of apple, fruity, some funk. Taste is slightly tart, fruity apple, fleshy, strawberry hint, caramel notes, alittle funk, wine-like, and with drying tannin. Medium bodied, spritzy carbonation, dry tannic finish. Nicely drinkable.

14/1/2022. Bottle sample courtesy of minutemat, cheers. Pours slightly hazed golden with a small bubbly white head. Aroma of sweet apple, toffee, vanilla fudge. Medium plus sweetness, slight tart edge. Medium body, smooth texture, soft carbonation. Enjoyable.

Sample thanks to Danlo: Poured a maroon with a pinkish white head. Aroma is apples, blackcurrants, funkiness. Taste is blackcurrants, apple, some tartness to break up the overall sweetness.

18/12/2021. Bottle sample courtesy of danlo, cheers Ed! Pours clear dark reddish brown with minimal head. Aroma of blackcurrant, apple and plum. Medium plus sweetness, light tartness. Moderate body, slightly oily, soft to flat carbonation. Okay.

500ml bottle from Harry Tuffins, Craven Arms. Drunk whilst cooking Christmas Dinner. Clear gold, sparkling. Aroma of good medium apple fruit, continuing to taste with a nice balanced medium cider character, light stewed apple hints with a medium body. Decent.

500ml bottle at the Pup and Duckling, Solihull. Poured a clear golden colour with a short-lived, fizzy white head and lots of bubbles. The aroma is light apple and vanilla. The flavour is moderate to light sweet, with a light crisp, light acidic, green apple, light herbal, light sweet vanilla palate. Medium bodied with average to lively carbonation.

500ml bottle from Holy GrAle, Durham. Bright deep red colour, pink foam head that quickly dissipates to a thin rim and aroma of blackcurrant cordial. Taste is initially sweet, with fruity apple, lots of blackcurrant, slight funky under-hint, and then some tartness and acidity. Medium bodied, spritzy carbonation, drying tart finish. Quite drinkable.

750ml bottle from Scrattings. Golden amber colour, afew shoer-lived bubbles on top and aroma of whisky, vanilla, apple, wood barrel. Taste is tangy apple, fruity, woody, oaky, whisky notes, with some leathery funk, and mellow tannins. Medium bodied, low carbonation, dry woody tannic finish. Nicely drinkable.

500ml bottle from Melbicks Garden Centre, Coleshill. Eye - clear deep purple, circular bubbly retention. Nose - musky farmyard apples, fruit sweet blackcurrants Taste - musky dry farm apples with a little tang, blackcurrant fruitiness which adds a nice sweetness. Moderate dry finish but the fresh fruitiness is what stands out here. Superb. Palate - light bodied and fresh but with a nice syrup smoothness, soft carbonation. Overall - a lovely fresh fruity non-artificial flavoured cider. A revelation.

500ml bottle via Scrattings. Shared with Soph. Misty gold appearance, fresh fragrant medium sweet apple fruit on the nose. Taste hooks into a solid medium sweet profile, good balanced apple fruit, hints of vanilla, fleeting caramelised brown sugar glimpses, light to moderate carbonation. Very enjoyable.
