Description
Picture yourself eating a handful of red raspberries, drinking a glass of fresh squeezed lemonade, or sipping on a glass of fine wine. Those sour, tart, and acidic flavors you are currently imagining are what makes sour beer taste quite different from traditional beers. These flavors, which are unique to sour beers, are the product of time and the right mix of microorganisms. While our sour beers age in oak barrels for an average of one year, a blend of microorganisms will shape the sour, tart, and acidic flavors that we’ve come to desire. Yes, sour beers take an exceptionally long time to develop, but we think that sour beers are well worth the wait.

Nice sour and tart stone fruit although not that ripe and not that much funk, you know the rare barrel flavor.

Bottle. Master of Malt. Hazed pale gold. No head. Nose has tinned peach. Apricot yoghurt. Touch of raspberry. Light, sweet oak. Soapy herb. Fresh cut oak and lemon brett. Taste is tart and lightly sour. Some oaky character. Juicy bitterness. Plenty of fruity tartness on the palate. Fine carbonation. A little drying. Lots of oaky funk and fruit to finish. Lovely beer.

12.7 oz. bottle with one of the most butt ugly goofy labels I’ve ever seen. Aroma has notes of oak, apricot, matchsticks, pineapple, Brett. Pours hazy sunshine golden with a one finger off white head with decent retention. Taste is moderately sour (7/10) with a lightly bitter edge. Foamy highly carbonated mouthfeel. A good beer, but a little disappointing for Rare Barrel.

Bottle thanks to Stuu666. 2017 vintage 5.5% Pours hazy orange with a thin white head. Vanilla and orange on the nose. Some woodiness underneath. Taste has vanilla, orange zest, sourness cleans it up a bit. Funky finish. Interesting.
