Description
Crooked Brewing is a proud Yorkshire brewery, fully aware of the region’s beer history, yet crafting a future in modern beer making methods.

Based on the old RAF base, now Leeds East Airport, at Church Fenton, Crooked has its roots in “Learn to Brew” classes where Steve and Andy had the dream of teaching people how to make quality beer from scratch.

When a number of star pupils went onto work in the industry, they thought they needed to get their beers out there. They met Mark and Hudson who had retail and finance experience and after several IPA fuelled evenings planning in Hudson’s kitchen Crooked Brewing was born.

The journey has been hard work, sometimes frustrating, always fun. We’ve had the support of some brilliant independent bars in Leeds and York who appreciated our drive to make modern, interesting and ultimately very, very drinkable beer.

330ml draft in a bottle from lowcostbeer.com. Murky brown-amber pour with small off white head, some retention, sediment, its all good. Very malty aroma, vegetation, caramel, dough, spice. Different but not the most inviting. Taste is dough, caramel, passionfruit, pineapple, spice. Actually very nice. Medium body and carbonation which works ok. Good.

Draft at the Tap & Tandoor, Solihull. Poured a hazy golden orange colour with a thin white head. The aroma is grainy malt, orange tangerine citrus. The flavour is moderate bitter, with a fresh, crisp, light juicy orange citrus, light pepper spice, light hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

Panda at home, thanks to SHIG, 24/02/21. Deep mahogany brown with a light khaki covering that dissipates to a swirl Nose is chocolate, brown sugars, toffee, dark malts, Burtons Wagon Wheel. Taste comprises chocolate, marshmallow, brown sugars, hint of dried fruits, cocoa sprinkle. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Passable stout … just came over a little cheap and artificial in terms of the ingredients.

440ml can Sophie's Beer Store. Pours a misty deep golden brown, small ring of white circling atop. Aroma of gentle mango fruit, subtle lactose. Taste is fairly tame, but balanced with a pleasant mango sweetness. Not really much lactose or oat contribution coming through, very mild on this front. Overall a nice sipper, probably great on cask.

Cask @ The Pub, Todmorden. Blonde with a small head. It's a crisp hoppy ale, but more of the former than latter.
