Description
Driven by an enthusiasm for real ale, work began on the current Grasshopper Brewery site in Langley Mill early in 2016. Two time served engineers and lifelong friends and their beloved wives (one an accountant the other an IT specialist) all got their heads together and by the end of 2017 the team 'mashed in' their first brew on the new site. Shortly afterwards Grasshopper Brewery's beers started appearing in pubs nearby. Today as our beers gain recognition for their quality and our range gradually grows, new sales and re-orders has seen our beers reaching pubs, micro-pubs and festivals throughout Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.

Cask at Smithfield, Derby. Pours almost black with a medium sized foamy cream head and good lacing. Lots of lovely roasted malts in the aroma, and a fair bit of chocolate too. Pretty much the start to start with in the mouth as well, but later on liquorice comes through in spades. There’s a creamy sweetness to the texture as well. Some bitterness creeps in at the finish. This is excellent !

Handpull cask at the Railway Tavern, Langley Mill. Dark brown and opaque with a small khaki head. Light coal, dark chocolate and herbal aroma. Bitter taste with light herbal notes and a chalky bitter finish. Not too exciting but certainly worth a drink.

Cask at Peacock, Derby. Couldn’t detect much nose at all on this one. Pours a classic gold with a small white head and good lacing. Bit of a mish-mash in the mouth. It is bitter with hops and corn, but also sweet with discuit malts, yet again spicy with hints of ginger. The bitterness wins out in bthe finish. Pleasant enough I suppose.
