Can from Lidl. Pours hazy yellow gold with a thin white head. Fruity aromas. Taste is peach and strawberry. Sweet finish. Not my kind of thing.

Can thanks to Grant. Appearance - deep brown to black with a foamy, beige, head. Nose - the plum is up front, then soft chocolate and coffee with wood spice. Taste - the spice is more obvious at the front of the palate, probably more nutmeg than the star anise and cinnamon mentioned. Then the plum followed by a sweet caramel and light chocolate. Palate - close to medium bodied, creamy texture, slightly dry finish. Overall - ok. A lot of flavour despite low ABV.

From the bargain bucket at Marshall's farm shop, Aberdeenshire. Bit of a gusher on the opening. It pours hazy darkest red with a big, bubbly white head. The aroma is sweet, sappy, oily, toffee, caramel, red fruits, jam rolly polly, victoria sponge cake, pine needles and resin. The taste is firmly dry, bitter - sweet, sappy, resinous, pine needles, juicy, jammy red fruits, jam rolly polly, pithy, zesty, blood orange, toffee/caramel, brown bread and a nip of boozey warmth with a drying finish. Medium+ body and average carbonation. A decent hearty red ale.

Rich, smooth stout with a good whack of coffee, lots of toasty malt. Some tangy sweetness too, not sure if that's off the malt or maybe fruit, but it's nice and balances nicely.

Can from Beer52. It pours hazy chestnut brown with a decent white head. The aroma is sweet bruised banana, banana split, toasty grain, nutty, woody and ryvita. The taste is dry, bitter snap, toasty grain, some warming spice, clove, bruised banana, banana bread, walnut, earthy, toothy, chewy and some burnt toast with a drying, toasty spice finish. Average body and fine, fluffy carbonation. Decent enough.
