Can pour into nonic pint glass from Greg & Jane's Beer and Wine. Appearance is very dark brown--almost opaque black--with no sparkle, finger width, fizzy, light brown head with poor retention and no lacing. Aroma is dominant, strong roasted/burnt malts, bordering on ash, perhaps a hint of chocolate and lactose. Taste is strong roasted malts (not as burnt as aroma) with chocolate (more apparent than aroma) and late bitter. Palate is medium bodied with smooth, but somewhat watery, texture (like drinking very soft, demineralized, water), lively carbonation and mix of sweet and bitter roasted, dry finish. Overall, not a bad beer by any stretch of the imagination but was expecting so much more from this brewer, so in that context a bit disappointing.

16 oz. can. Purchased at Ball Square Fine Wine, Somerville. Canned on 3-28-18. Stamped "398 Years" next to the date. Aroma is baked bread, light floral, and weak fruit. Flavor is a bit heavy on the sweet malt. The hop try's to balance it and almost does.

On tap into tulip glass at Jimmy's Culpeppers. Appearance is opaque black, no apparent sparkle, 2-finger width creamy light brown head with good retention and rings of soapy lacing around the glass. Aroma is mild roast, dark fruit. Taste is similar to aroma, not as rich/decadent as I was expecting. Palate is medium-to-full bodied with smooth, silky texture, soft carbonation and nice finish. Overall, the appearance and palate were stellar but the aroma and flavor were pleasant but not terribly strong nor complex.

Pours a thick black from a can. Aroma is a big leather and chocolate, with a faint hit of licorice. Flavor is intensely thick malts, chocolate notes. This is a thick and oily impy stout, could age well. Pretty good beer.

Pours a cloudy amber from a can, thick white head with some lacing. Lemon, soap, floral aroma, flavor is a bit more tangerine and grapefruit and orange blossom honey. Pretty good beer.

I got this bottle in a trade with nutbrown. Thanks Alan!
This pours a clear dark brown with reddish highlights. There's a good ~2 finger head of foam and there's some nice lacing.
The smell is a nice mix of roasted malt, chocolate and light coffee.
The taste is a rich roasted malt flavour with side notes of light coffee and some dark chocolate. This is pretty yummy!
Mouthfeel is light and the carbonation is on the low end of medium. Btw, the head retention is average but the lacing refuses to give up the battle. ;^)
Drinkability is *very* good and being only 5.5%abv helps. I'm having no problem emptying my glass and if I had another bottle, I'd tap that baby as well.
Bottom line: This is a *very* tasty and oh so enjoyable English Style Porter. I'm impressed with what Mayflower Brewing has done here.

I got this bottle in a trade with Yamar 18. Thanks Kevin!
A slightly hazy amber pour with a 1 finger head of foam and some nice lacing.
The smell has notes of some citrus and some caramel malt.
The taste has a good citrus flavour tempered by some sweet malt and overall, a pretty nicely balanced flavour. This medium bodied EPA finishes on the bitter side with some grassy notes and it leaves a pleasing aftertaste.
I think this is pretty tasty example of the style though I wouldn't be inclined to drink more than 1 or 2 bottles at a session.

Pours a rich mahogany from a tap. Somewhat cola and spicy aroma, flavor starts off with sweet cola, zips into a spicy, almost Saaz like flavor, ends on caramel. Interesting and good.

Pours a slightly hazy straw from a can with lots of floaties, thick white head, little lacing. Aroma is a sweet citrus with an off-putting sour milk hint. Flavor is more of the citrus with an oddly vegetal finish. Weird.

Pours a nice amber from a can, good lacing. Nice big tropical fruit aroma upon opening, though as it warms there are pretty big vomit notes as well. Flavor initially very sweet, kind of a sugary fruit syrup. Becomes cloying as it warms, with a big bitter aftertaste and a slight burn, like a skim of bile in your throat after spitting up. I swear, I have not thrown up and the described it, this is an actual description of a beer.
