Tap at the source. Slightly hazy dark yellow with a decent bubbly white head. Spicy peppery on the nose with plenty of earthy floral grassy hops and a hint of honey maltiness to counter. Tasty Beer.

16 oz can from Harvest Market Pours a deep dark brown with a mocha head that persists. Rich coffee and chocolate with a roasty and lightly earthy backbone to it. Sweet maltiness with bits of vanilla and a hint of cinnamon. Faint chilies round this out quite nicely although imho should be a bit stronger. Pretty tasty beer.

Can from the Brewery Inky black color with a decent sized frothy tan head that slowly recedes. Rich roast chocolate and caramel with bits of dark dried fruit. Faint oaky bourbon with some light coconut and a hint of green apple. Quite a decent sipper.

Can pour into nonic pint glass from The City, Plaistow, NH. Appearance is hazy, dark brown with slight mahogany, nice sparkle at the sides of the glass, two-finger width foamy beige head with good retention and light soapy lacing at the top of the glass. Aroma is toasted malt, rye-like spice, manila paper, light herb. Taste is as aroma with hint of dark chocolate. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with smooth, foamy texture, soft-to-average carbonation, dry finish as taste. Overall, a nice aroma and flavor that's a little hard to pin down. Great palate. A treat.

Taste is roasted malt, bordering on charr, caramel, plum, light vanilla. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with smooth texture, lively carbonation and mix of sweet caramel and bitter roast finish. Overall, nice flavor. Decent brown ale.

Draught at Barley House, 12/9/17.
High clarity in this dark mahogany beer, with dark maroon highlights and a small, dark beige head atop that recedes quickly to a ring.
Light and thin in the nose, it right away seems a bit overdone on the vanilla and nor does the vanilla smell particularly natural (just extract it seems). Hard roast, some husk/malt astringency and very little base malt.
Fizzy, light, thin, undermalted body with syrupy chocolate-vanilla notes throughout. A bit fake and cheap tasting, with an undermalted body and texture.

Appearance is opaque black with thin ring of beige head, no discernible sparkle, light leggy lacing. Aroma is cinnamon dominant with vanilla. Taste is strong cinnamon, vanilla and coffee (tastes like a Dunkin' Donuts cinnamon donut). Palate is light-to-medium bodied with thin smooth texture, lively carbonation and dry, pleasantly spicy (hot) finish. Overall, a little thin and overly carbonated for the style but the cinnamon is not over the top and the spiciness pushes the limit but stays in a good range and adds a nice element.

Taster pour at the source. Appearance is opaque black with thin ring of beige head, no discernible sparkle, light lacing. Aroma is baker's chocolate, vanilla, rich roasted malts. Taste is more rich roasted malts dominant, then vanilla, then chocolate, but similar to aroma. Palate is medium bodied with smooth texture from the lactose, lively carbonation with mostly bitter roasted finish. Overall, more roasty and less sweet than I expected, but that's not a bad thing.

On draught at The Guild, 9/2/17.
Minimal haze in this fiery-lemon-golden beer. Small white head atop shows moderate-to-low retention.
Nose immediately shows straightforward citrus and pine tending somewhat over-boiled and coming off grassy and vegetal while leaving resin persisting on the finish.
Whitebread/angel food-like straightforward sweetness comes off a bit too strong up front as strong bitterness and dull citrus quickly takes over. Lackluster carbonation is too loose and the beer finishes with too much grapefruit and pine/lemon alongside strong grassy, bitter dullness.
