Description
SweetWater brewery has been makin’ tasty brews in the heart of the south since 1997. What started as a pipe dream of two college buddies has turned into a dream job full of great adventures and lip-smackin’ beers. What would you expect from a couple of boys with more of a hankering for beers than for books.

From a very cheap pounder can (50 cents!). Pour is almost clear pale to the eye, quite normal for a cheap pale lager. Pop the lid and the nose is crisp, fresh and almost neutral. Yes, it is easy drinking and well behaved, not even a sign of any processed feel to this one - it comes across as well made and balanced. No ill attributes or character that I can find, not even any adjunct cream corn in the nose or the taste, just refreshing with a good level of carbonation. I was a little bit leery of buying a 12 pack of these for 6$, but now I think I should have got the whole rack! Great stuff fer sure. Recently I just had some sweetwater american lager and this stuff is much better than that! In the middle, the friendship just keeps coming, quite nice. On the finish, it leaves me wanting more. In the end, I can't really find anything negative about this stuff, its just plain good american pale lager. I wonder why the price is so low? Maybe they are trying to us to taste it? I think I'll stop over at JR's and get a couple of cases of this stuff. Its cheaper than most nasty macro pale lagers. Many domestic craft brewers try to make a good american pale lager but few, if any, achieve this level in the style. Hey SW, this is impressive, thanks!

This stuff was on the tap menu simply as Sweetwater Lager. Come to find out its actually the american lager. After a flight into Pgh airport last night I wanted to try a brew. I wanted to hit penn brewery, but at 8:30pm they were closed already? WTF? I found this lager at they only place serving beer in the airport at the time, Bufords. I paid $10 for a small draft of this, one of the biggest rip offs at the airport. Additionally, the waitress was extremely rude, she was wearing an ass hat, and it wasn't pretty. The tap was just marked sweetwater, and when I asked what was the name of this brew, she cringed and said; 'what are you? some kinda walker texas ranger, just flew in from texas?' PMO, then I chuckled to myself, I just wanted to know what style. I'm not ever going back to that place again, and it wasn't even busy, no wonder, whew. You'd think for a $10 - 12oz pour, I'd get a little smoother friendly bullshit - but no. Anyway, thanks for plowing thru this rant, now I feel a little better. As far as the draft goes, it was pretty good. Started off with a clean fresh nose with very nice co2 level. Taste was friendly with just a tad of processed feel to it. In the middle, it was good flavor all round, nothing really ill in character. No bitterness, smooth noble hop feel about it. Kind of refreshing after I was treated like shit. Anyway, even if this was the best beer ever, my overall beer tasting experience was ruined by this place. The only venue open for a draft in the airport at 9PM on a friday evening? Come on, you got to be kidden. Pgh airport has been getting quite sucky lately for beer tasters. Even Bar Symon was closed early.

19.2oz can from Albertsons. Taking a chance as the Gummies Fruit Punch IPA was horrendous. Same look, dark golden, fluffy white head. So far, so good. Fruity aroma, tropical notes, candy. Still has a hard candy vibe, but not as harsh as the Fruit Punch. Jolly Ranchers, Life Savers, ABV not prevalent, dry finish.

19.2 oz can from Albertsons. Cloudy, dark golden pour, one finger foamy white head. Aroma is Hawaiian Punch and hard candy. Very sweet, sugary. Taste turns south, Swedish Fish, red Jolly Ranchers. Cloying, and then the high ABV hits pretty harshly. I think I liked the FourLoko version better.
