Caña en VI Artbeerfest Caminha 14.. 07..2018. (r04). Color negro intenso con espuma beige oscuro. Sabores intensos maltosos tostados con toques de cacaos y caramelos tostados. Vainillas. Cuerpo medio a intenso con buena sensación alcohólica desde el principio algo dulce. Bastante buena para repetir.

Caña en VI Artbeerfest Caminha 14.. 07..2018. (r11). Color ámbar anaranjado turbio con espuma blanca. Sabores maltosos y cereales con toques afrutados y suaves herbáceos. Cuerpo ligero a medio algo denso y espumoso, algo seca al final ligeramente resinoso. No está mal. Buena.

[ As Colossus Vasco ].
ABV: 9.0%. Clear dark brown colour with a large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to light beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, coffee, moderate chocolate, light hoppy, fruity hops, dark fruit. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, roasted, coffee, dark fruit, moderate chocolate, light fruity hops. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20180808]

Tap @ Lisbeer, Lisbon. Hazy dark amber brown with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel, fruity and moderate hoppy - citrus and pine. Flavor is quite sweet and rather bitter. Dry and rather bitter finish. 170718

Bottle @ Cerveteca Lisboa. Black with a light brown head. Aroma is sweet, roasted malt, coffee and light hoppy. Flavor is quite sweet and rather bitter. Dry and rather bitter finish. Oily and soft. 160718

Re-rating (previous 3.3). Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 20C). Bottle 33 cl - Batch L18-2020 (BBF 06-2022). AROMA: medium roasted aroma with a coffee impression, slight prunes, vinous and dark chocolate. APPEARANCE: very dark brown color to black with slightly ruby highlights. opaque. medium-low brown head, with medium-low retention. leg formation. FLAVOR: medium-high roasted malt flavor with coffee notes, followed by low Maillard and esteres (prune) and slight vinous character. All these characteristics are overwelmed by a strong burnt character. medium-high bitterness with a dry, burnt and bitter finish. PALATE: full body and silky. low carbonation. OVERALL: an ok imperial stout a bit unbalanced on the roasted malts.

AROMA: medium-low malty-sweet aroma with some bready and honey notes. low fruity esters with a dried grape character. slight cereal husk note. APPEARANCE: deep gold color and clear. medium-low creamy off-white head with good retention. TASTE: soft malt flavor with notes of honey, bready, mixed with low estery notes (citrus-like). slight cereal husk note. medium-low bitterness with a semi-dry finish. PALATE: medium-light body with medium carbonation. OVERALL: a very nice blonde ale.

Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 30A). Bottle 33 cl - Batch CEA001/17 (BBF 10/2018). AROMA: medium notes of spices (nutmeg, ginger), slightly peppery alcohol and faint pumpkin background. APPEARANCE: orange-ish ambar color and hazy. medium ivory head with medium retention. TASTE: initial medium-low notes of ginger and nutmeg, followed by a low pumpkin background. medium-low bitterness with a dry and slightly bitter finish. PALATE: medium-low body with medium carbonation. OVERALL: a good try at a pumpkin ale but requires a bit more balance between spices and pumpkin flavor.
