Description
Goose Island Beer Company began as a single brewpub opened in 1988 by John Hall. By 1995, John’s beer had become so popular that he decided to open a larger brewery, along with a bottling plant to keep up with demand. 1999 brought even more growth, along with an additional brewpub, and today, what was once one man’s pint-filled dream has become the Goose Island empire you know and love.

in 2011, Goose Island Beer Company was acquired by Anheuser-Busch InBev. Since then, we’ve continued to brew beer that we’re proud of and now we get to share these beers with our friends both nationwide and internationally.

Bottle poured into a snifter. Pitch black with a fizzy brown head. Aroma is bourbon, cocoa nibs, ginger, toasted coconut. Initial taste is cocoa, bourbon, light toastiness. Fades to sweet chocolate cookies, bourbon, cocoa. Full body and ample carbonation. Love that the coconut is mostly contained to the aroma

Bottled 355ml. -at Ambasada Zagreb. Pitch black coloured, minimal brownish head, bourbon and light alcohol in the nose. Bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, notes of mint and light alcohol with minty finish. Bit oily, pleasant one.

Huge thanks JFK10000 for letting me try it - bottled at Ambasada. BLack body, almost no head. Caramel, dried raisin, bourbon notes, minty. Fresh mint on heavy caramel, raisin and bourbon-vanilla barrel malty notes. Quite okay, I love mint, so it works.

(Draft at Beer Temple, Amsterdam, 27 Feb 2026) Black colour with creamy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of coffee, dark chocolate, cacao, black rye bread, oak wood, whiskey and vanilla. Malty, roasted taste with coffee, dark chocolate, cacao, dark bread, vanilla, rye whiskey, wood and a balanced roasty bitterness in a warming finish. Full body, quite sweet. Rich, harmonious and quite well balanced for its strength, with a generous whiskey wood character. Great beer!

A deep dark stout with a very thin mocha head. In aroma, sweet fruity chocolate malt with dark fruits, licorice, alcohol warmth, very nice. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity chocolate malt with dark fruits, licorice, alcohol warmth, light bourbon barrel notes, woody notes, very nice.
