Description
Goose Island Beer Company began as a single brewpub opened in 1988 by John Hall. By 1995, John’s beer had become so popular that he decided to open a larger brewery, along with a bottling plant to keep up with demand. 1999 brought even more growth, along with an additional brewpub, and today, what was once one man’s pint-filled dream has become the Goose Island empire you know and love.

in 2011, Goose Island Beer Company was acquired by Anheuser-Busch InBev. Since then, we’ve continued to brew beer that we’re proud of and now we get to share these beers with our friends both nationwide and internationally.

Amber with orange shine, cold haze; slight orange head, lacey. Nose yields caramel and colour malts, and fine hops. Malty underbuild with hoppy surroundings in the taste. Surprising for an American, this tastes very British. Including the mouthfeel and aftertaste, both rather empty - just the hopbitterness, and a little oiliness linger on. It starts off proudly American, then turns out to be prominent British, and finally fails to deliver both goods. Ay. Expected better from this much-vaunted ale. I don't know if it's for export, but my label states 5.0% ABV.

A refreshing beverage, perfect for warm temperatures (although...come to think about it...it was in the 30s outside when I drank this). I'm not sure about the pale ale description however. Flavor is smooth and modestly hoppy with a pleasant citrusy, spicy character evident as the ale enters the throat. In this respect, Honkers Ale reminds me of a sort of "Oberon lite." This is my favorite beer in Goose Island's lineup.

Great colour, and a fantastic smell. The flavour was great at first, but quickly faded away. Not a bad beer, but not my favourite APA. A great beer to have real quickly between Terminals 1 & 2 at Chicago O'Hare (ORD).

This is tolerable. If you're stuck with Guinness, Murphy's, or the like, this is at least a half degree superior. Here is the secret of Goose Island Oatmeal Stout: they take one of their other, lighter, beers, and add a "stout tablet" that provides stout flavor in a thin, watery beer. Brief roasted flavors dissolve into a thin, watery, semi-bitter aftertaste. Quaffable, but inferior to microbrewed stout. Goose Island is the next Anheuser-Busch.

Black with fast fading tan head. Pleasant lightly roasted nose and flavor. Too little body for a stout

Unimpressive clear reddish amber color. Fizzy. This had a spicy, very carbonated nose, which then led into a bit of a stale, heavy hop taste. Beer is very unbalanced and ends with a touch on the lighter side, with some fruity notes. Did they forget the malt? 5/2/4/2/8

No they did not forget the malt. Wow, old ratings are pretty funny. While I wont go out of my way to drink this, if it’s a macro-oriented bar, I will happily drink this and enjoy it. Light in hop flavor, fairly dry. Not going to knock your socks off, but certainly drinkable and clean.

Light fruity sweetness up front, coupled with a soft spicy hop flavor. A nice match, with good balance. Refreshing and light without being bland and boring. Bright yellow-gold color, small head, good lacing. Expertly made light ale - and not having been to Cologne, its the best Kolsch I've had.

Very impressive stout, if a little on the thin side for my tastes. Nice hints of chocolate and coffee. Dark chocolate color and minimal head.
