Called Old Woody by the restaurant. Can we get this changed to that. Barrel aged and with the character of the barrel in the aroma. Full bodied with a minor alcohol note. Malty note.

Called a Biere de garde on the menu. But I was told this was the same boerhuis beer.. Some poempoen in the aroma. Orange brown colour with a thick white head. Fuller flavour than you might expect. Bigger body than I expected. Spicy finish.

Draught. Barman assured me this was the regular smoked porter. Roasty aroma. Baie malt. Some smoke in the flavour, but not excessive. .Hop in the finish along with the malt. A porter to drink and remember

Draught. Pours black with thick white head; Light soapy aroma. Full hop flavour with some roasty notes. Perhaps the crowd roaring songs helped. Nice hop finish.

Draught. The whole was greater than the sum of it’s parts. Hop aroma. Balanced flavour, with a lot of lemon. Lemon in the finish, rather like lemon custard. BTW. I love lemon custard.

Draught at brewpub. Great looking beer. Malty aroma with a rubbing alcohol note. Flavour is alcohol with a little malt. Not much of a finish. This beer tastes a lot like whisky.

Pours red with medium white head. Rather strong for a pilsener. Grassy aroma, Hoppy flavour with beet sweetness. Rather salady finish. I was told this was a pilsener with beet juice. Rather unique actually.

Draught. Orange yellow pour with thin head. Spicey aroma. Contains, according to the server, St. John’s Wort, Hyssop, Sichuan peppercorn, long peppers, and more. Reminds me of a medieval medicine. No mediciney taste. Light body, fuller flavour than you would expect. Spice finish.
