Draught @ One Mile House. Cloudy dark yellow with very small frothy whitish head that disappeared immediately, acidic aroma, medium carbonation, thin body, tart taste, abrupt finish with some resin bitterness. Nice tart brew.

Draft - Funky farmhouse, stone and some dark fruit. Clear copper orange with a nice beige head. Light tart and dry dark fruity notes. Nice.

750mL cork&cage poured into a tulip glass, batch 159. Big tight head atop a brown body. Aroma is all spices - allspice, nutmeg-y. Body has a soft carbonation and a medium body. A toasted malt covered by spices some nuttiness. So, I got this for the chilies but I was robbed. No heat, no peppa’s, boooo. Even the spices are dull on this brew.

[3/1/15] Draught at The Beer Junction in Seattle. Clear yellow. Lovely sour aroma, fruity, with some lacto and lemon. Sour flavor, lactic and fruity with some lemon. Medium-bodied.

[2/17/15] Draught at The Libertine Pub in Morro Bay. Clear deep red-amber. Aroma of coffee beans, caramel and fruitiness. Sweetish flavor with caramel, coffee, a bit of fruitiness and a spicy alcoholic finish. Medium-bodied.

750ml bottle pours a murky orange with some spitty, white head. Nose has grass, lime, candy sugar, a little gum, white grape. Flavor is sweet, bubblegum, wheat, lime, grass, green bell pepper. Finishes sweet and also a little thick.

750 c&c from Bine & Vine. Pours hazy golden copper with a slight, transient white head. Aroma is very fruity, fairly intense, yet not really strong in one particular or another. Quite nice, but different. With a deep inhale something like tart plum surfaces. Med body. Flavor is tart, has an aspect suggesting red wine, moves on to tart plum and I think has enough brett to be detectable. It is quite different in flavor, and that may be the rye. Not able to parse out rye spice, but I can believe it’s part of the mix. Very tasty, and not overly strenuous on the senses. A little horseblanket comes thru in the finish.

750 ml C&C bottle, batch #68. Aroma does have a nice tannic, vinous, white wine character. Moderate tropical fruit, pineapple, stone fruit and light melon. Light red apple notes with faint phenolics. Pours a slightly hazy, pale, golden orange with a medium sized, somewhat thin, white head that exhibits decent retention. Flavor has a moderately acidity, again with quite a bit of white wine character. Lots of tropical fruit and pineapple with light melon and stone fruit. Hints of red apple with faint phenolics. Mouthfeel is light bodied with medium high carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, this is a surprisingly good beer. I don’t know if its the age helping it, but slap the label of an hyped brewery on this and it would sell very well. Reminds me of some Jester King beers.

The beer is a pale yellowish orange. It’s fairly cloudy. Medium white head. The aroma is pale malt, raisins, mild earthy yeastiness, mild lemons. It seems a bit strong for its own good, but it has some nice enough saison flavors. There is an oddball medicinal, herbal note that is probably what is throwing me off. Taste is on the sweet side for a saison. Finishes dry enough, though. More raisins. A bit of booze heat. Again, some of that medicinal character. Feel is prickly with some roundness. Drinks bigger than it is, which isn’t a good thing here. A bit beefy and a bit medicinal but otherwise a decent saison.
