Draft at Driftwood, Taipei. Poured a mostly clear golden colour with a lasting frothy white head. The aroma is grainy malt, piney hops. The flavour is moderate bitter, with a crisp, fresh, piney, dank, light citrus, woody hop bitter palate and and lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation. A nicely balanced, hop forward IPA.

Orange with a white head. Slightly cloudy. Pine, floral and light citrus notes. Medium bodied. Very nice.

Taihu x KBC Jin Match 8.5% Orange gold with a big caramel sesame aroma. Medium bodied and very sweet slightly smokey caramel sesame biscuits. Gimmicky and weird but I guess it did what it set out to do: recreate the Taiwanese sesame souvenir sweets.

Dude didn’t even give me the right beer. Asked for Taihu’s Black Valentine Black IPA and he gives me this, about as black as my grandma. Assuming it’s the Bright Ale, also on the menu. Thought it was coffee but roasted barley tea, I guess?

Taihu Key Lime Pie 5% Orange gold with a tart lime & pie crust aroma. Medium bodied and very tart with the lime and pie crust thing. Quite tasty.

TAIHU IPA (L) 6% Lovely mellow orange-gold with a very fragrant fruitilicious hop bouquet up front then woodsy bitter notes. Similar effervescence to the kolsch but not as dry or gassy. Medium bodied and smooth with a prickly carbonic bite. The taste is malt sweet with the tropical hops and a herbal green woodsy bitter bite. Simple but tasty and I’d say it elevates the kolsch.

TAIHU Kumquat Kolsch 5% Paler than the IPA bit a smidge, I’d say this is kind of honey gold with a grainy malt aroma overlaid with yeasty ripe kumquats. Very effervescent almost seltzer like, prickly and even gassy. The taste is kumquat then a dry finish featuring crackery malts. Alright but too gassy for me.

Tap at Takumiya. Hazy, dull black. Nose is cola, chocolate, light roast coffee, oranges. Sweet and hoppy, nice citrus, licorice, chocolate, resiny hops. Solid.

Tap at KBC. Deep gold with a tall head. Big lime nose, tart, lactic. Tart and sweet with lime and citrus, nice fruit and tartness. Nice.
