Description
8 Wired is a micro brewing company based in Warkworth, New Zealand.
Our mission is to produce mind blowing beers that will wow craft beer lovers, excite fellow beer geeks and educate the mis-guided who still believe that "beer is just beer". If you want to come on this journey with us, please get in touch.
8 Wired Brewing is inspired by the legendary Kiwi can-do mentality and fellow craft brewers who have dared to challenge the masses and show us all that beer is no longer “just beer”! Known for producing “New world interpretations of old world styles” 8 Wired have multiple shades of very hoppy IPAs, Saisons, Porters and Stouts in their permanent line up and have the biggest barrel aged and sour program in the southern hemisphere.
After 5 years of contract brewing, eventually at 4 different breweries across New Zealand we now finally have our very own brewery (In Warkworth, North of Auckland) where we brew and package everything.

Bottle: Literally black, as expected, medium-sized stable tanned head with a little lace; sourish-leathery nose with a touch roasted malt; moderate to solid bitter-sweet flavour, medium bodied and pretty smooth; lingering roasty and leathery finish, presenting a subtle fruitiness and ending with a light acidity. Good, no doubt, but where is the smoke.....?

Bottle from Kihøskh, Copenhagen; batch 29, bb 01 Apr 12, possibly 3 months old
Dark amber color, hazy, with a small-sized creamy head. The aroma has caramel, cream, some yeast (lightly cheesy), some fruity and resiny hop, bitter oranges. Dark caramel flavor, with a quite strong yeast presence, also a spicy yeast; strong bitterness, with hop resins and some bitter orange peel.
Powerful, but rough, un-elegant.

Bottle from Ørsted, Copenhagen, batch 12, bb 2011-09-14, presumably 4 months old
Hazy amber color; small-sized head. The aroma is surprising, a mix of pungent fruits and manure; passion fruit, chemicals... The body is less strong than expected, quite lean; dry toffee flavor, with a powerful and resiny hopping; the resins increase in the final, with piney accents, for an aggressive result. Original, very good.

Bottle @ Vinens Verden, Odense. Pours dark amber red with a creamy white head and lacings. Nose is hops and bready malts. Some buiscuit and a lovely fruity and flowery note with a hint of grass and berries. Well balanced. Flavor is buiscuit, caramel plus grassy and piney hops. Smooth and crisp. Very well made and quite hoppy.

Very dark, with a small head that doesn’t last long. As the name says, it’s a kinda roasty, smoked, dark beer. Usually not my favorite style, this one scored pretty high though.

Bought this bottle @ the Molen. Little hazy orange color. Very fine smell with lots of hops, grapefruit and little pineapple flavors. Taste is the same. Medium to full body, lively beer and very nice carbonation.

On tap. Pours a cloudy amber with a yellowish head. Somewhat dusty hops in the nose. Medium body, quite some caramel, intensely herbal hoppiness leaving a bitter finish - distinctly bitter indeed! 130611
