Description
We are Boutilliers, a small brewery based around the back of a farm shop in Faversham (Macknade fine foods if you were the curious sort.) Originally founded by 2 former uni buds, Boutilliers is now run by Rich, a former english teacher, and Drew, professional loud mouth. Our core focus is to brew creative styles and innovate with the resources we have to hand. When possible we like to use produce from local companies including tea and hops but we’ve not limited ourselves to this philosophy. Beer is an infinitely sprawling landscape with an equal number of potential possibilities, we don’t wish to simply make the same beer every time we brew, we want to explore, we want to play, we want our beer to be fun.
Closure announced on December 13th 2022.

Hazy amber beer, a few pale cream colour bubbles. Light and semi dry palate, reasonable fine carbonation. Mild sweetness from the malts. A light hop spice in the background. Some hop bitterness and pine. Mildly ripe citrus. The rose is lightly done, deftly so. Fancy there is a little black tea bitterness here as well. Fruit Tea and Plums were also thrown in here. Finishes light with more mild to medium bitterness. A mixed bag but it works reasonably well, only downside was the lack of Idaho 7 character coming through.

Clear amber beer, no head. Smooth palate, mildly dry, modest fine carbonation. Decent brandy vibe on this one, very decent. Some spicy brany. Mild malt sweetness underpins. Some brandy soaked fruits on the finish. Light spicy linger. Nice, quite light but full of flavour and pretty brandy. Stylish!

Grisette. Hazy gold colour lasting white head. Some diacetyl some saison grisette character. It's not all that. Some lemon on finish. You don't want butter on your grisette. Hmmmm.

5.4% saison. Cask handouts at Hop Stuff Tap room Ashford. Hazy gold lasting white head. Saison yeast aroma. Slightly herby aroma. Quite low carbonation as on cask but no bad thing. I liked it. Decent saison yeast and herb and touch of farmyard and good lemon on finish. Not too bitter but drying. Good I thought.

Rauchbier 4.7%. On tap at Hop Stuff Tap room Ashford. Hazy dark brown colour thin head. Smoked sausage aroma. More smoke in the mouth. I mean if you don't like Rauchbier don't go near this. It's as Bamberg levels of smoke so I loved it.
