Description
We are Boutilliers, a small brewery based around the back of a farm shop in Faversham (Macknade fine foods if you were the curious sort.) Originally founded by 2 former uni buds, Boutilliers is now run by Rich, a former english teacher, and Drew, professional loud mouth. Our core focus is to brew creative styles and innovate with the resources we have to hand. When possible we like to use produce from local companies including tea and hops but we’ve not limited ourselves to this philosophy. Beer is an infinitely sprawling landscape with an equal number of potential possibilities, we don’t wish to simply make the same beer every time we brew, we want to explore, we want to play, we want our beer to be fun.
Closure announced on December 13th 2022.

Bottle from Hoptimism. Rich creamy roast coffee aroma. Dark and glossy - a cola brown tint. Despite having sat one a shelf for some time the foam gushed out of the bottle as soon as I opened it. Unsurprisingly the head is thick and foamy. Initial sour/bitter berry hit, before it smooths out to bitter coffee. Creamy finish. Light bodied. Thin - the fizzy prickly carbonation rules the roost. Abrupt finish. I like this but may as well have been labelled a porter. Although I guess the deseiorion is accurate - roasty but slips down easily.

330ml bottle. Hazy, orangey golden colour with small to average, thick, creamy, fairly lasting, moderately lasting, snow-white head. Citrusy, fruity hoppy aroma, notes o flemon, hints of grapefruit, a touch of peach, apple, orchard fruit, cautious biscuity pale malty background. Taste is initially bitter and slightly fruity, minimally citrusy hoppy, hints of orchard fruit, yellow apple, old peaches; later - with the fruit flavours widely gone - almost simply mineral, cautious biscuity pale malty basis throughout. Excellent, fine carbonation, sudsy texture, smooth and soft palate.

3.1% On tap at Thomas Tallis Canterbury. Hazy dark brown colour lasting beige head. A green hop mild. Some hoppy presence no doubt. I thought very drinkable. Decent dark mild malts and a slap of green hops spicy bite. good I thought. lots of flavour for a 3.1% abv beer.
