About
Always challenging and some say 'audacious' in style, our ales are made by hand using high quality floor malted barley and whole hops.

Brewed for the few, from our tiny five barrel plant in the Amber Valley, Derbyshire, we specialise in full-flavoured traditionally styled ale with a modern twist. We brew beer that we like to drink and we have been fortunate to win many accolades for our beer both locally and nationally.

Cask at GBBF 2013. It pours near black with a small beige head. The nose is earthy, light roast, chocolate, oily orange and caramel. The taste is smooth, mellow, caramel, cocoa, touch of artificial orange, vanilla and wood with a light bitterness in the finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Smooth and easy drinking, but let down by the artificial notes. OK.

On cask at Three Tuns, Dronfield - Deep gold body, frothy white head. Nose of heavy citrus and grass. Taste pure hay, grass and bitter oranges. Decent mouthfeel, but I couldn’t finish this. Very bitter in a bad way.

Picked this up in bottle from The Talbot, Amber brewery tap, Ripley, Derbyshire 27.07.13 consumed at home 28.07.13 Pours a murky orange/brown with off-white head. Some yeast but nose otherwise quite citrussy, orange, tangy, nice bitter beer. Solid hoppy with nice tongue tickling bitterness. Really like this. A7 A3 T8 P4 Ov15 3.6

Picked this up in bottle from The Talbot, Amber brewery tap, Ripley, Derbyshire 27.07.13 consumed at home 28.07.13 Pours hazy straw/orange colour with busy white head, in fact whilst not exactly a gusher it was still nonelesss quite lively. Aroma was very floral and if I knew what Jasmine smelt like I would guess that this was pretty spot on, good nose. However the taste was not as good, a little rough around the edges it feels unfinished not that hoppy and more wheaty and hefeweizen like. Actually if someone had of said to me that this is wheat beer I would have totally believed them, there is some yeastiness, it is wheaty and a little fruity, but also refreshing. Its one of the weakest in the Amber portfolio that I’ve had. A8 A3 T5 P2 Ov12 3.0

Had this at The Tabot, Amber Brewery Tap, Ripley, Derbyshire consumed either at festival site or nearby Golden Valley campsite 26.07.13 Pours very dark brown, perhaps a little thin but I really, really like this. Some watery spent coffee grains, a good roastiness, simple, decent, non fussy stout. A6 A4 T7 P3 Ov14 3.4

At Hucknall Beer Festival - A cloudy yellow ale, small white head, heady nose of honey that runs all the way through the beer. Not one for me, but others on my table loved it.

Bottle consumed at Shrewsbury Folk Festival Shropshire, campsite, Friday 24th August 2012 Very hazy, white head with what maybe a couple of yeasty flecks. Busy carbonation, really murky. Soft in mouth, sweetness, some citrus. Dryness in mouth, furry, little bit of tropical fruit. Good beer. A7 A2 T8 P3 Ov15 3.5
