Indonesia has the largest coastline amongst the ten largest coffee producers. Not black, but dark, with coffee huge in aroma, stated in taste, dissipating by aftertaste. Pretty decent in the sum of its parts and mildly gritty in design, with an underlying floralness throughout the brew.

Cask at Wellington, Brum. Opaque dark gold. Thin foamy translucent white head. Aroma has twigs, leaves and malts. Flavourwise there a light if tangy citrus streak and an almost saline element. Underlying light malts. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Average carbonation. Long dry somewhat astringent finish. Boring.

I highly recommend the train journey through the Black Forest in Germany. I've done the Schwarzwald twice. First time for this not fully black coloured beer, but very dark-malty in character. Although a very cask texture there's sweetish ingredients associated with German style dark beers, and they're very good.

[Cask at the Basingstoke Beer Festival 2025.] An attractive cola brown pour with a reddish gleam; fruity aroma; red fruit taste with a touch of citrus and toasted malts; then a light bitterness to finish. Less assertive than I was expecting.

[Cask at the Basingstoke Beer Festival 2025] An amber pour with a thin white head; fruity aroma; indistinct fruity taste; and a crisp finish. Rather incipid and uninteresting.
