Description
Wylam Brewery was set up in a disused dairy on a farm near Heddon on the Wall in May 2000 by John Boyle and Robin Leighton driven by their passion for real ale. The brewery grew rapidly on the strength of the quality of its ales, winning awards at festivals around the UK. They outgrew the original 1000L plant in 2006 and brought on-stream a new 3500L plant in August in a bespoke barn conversion. Since then they have enjoyed continued strong growth. In Summer 2016, the brewery moved to its current location at the same time expanding to a 30BBL plant.

Cask-conditioned at the Seven Stars, Bristol 2/7/2012. Deep gold with a trace of white head. Pineapple and grapefruit aromas with some sweetness. Full mouth feel, with more fruit and some slightly spicy malts coating the back of the throat, and leading to a dryish finish. Good.

Thanks to Adam for buying me a half pint of this one from cask at Guildford Arms. Copper-gold body, faint head, fair lacing. Malt-fruity nose. Toasted malts and herbal hoppy taste. Nice bitter roundup. Slightly thin on the swallow (Edinburgh, 14.04.2012).

Cask at the Victoria Inn, Durham on 22nd February 2012. Clear gold with white foam and full lacing. Yeasty hoppy aroma; rich flavoursome liquid with initial nuttiness - peanut. Berry fruits and rich grassy hops developing into a richly grassy finish on a light to zingy mouthfeel.
