Description
Chalk Hill Brewery was formed in 1993 by Bill Thomas, Tiny Little and David Blake – a group of friends with a shared interest in sailing, and beer. It now stands as the longest running independent brewery in Norwich!

The brewery was named after the surrounding area which was previously known as Chalk Hill, and is now Rosary Road. The brewery is a custom built 15 barrel plant and brews a selection of permanent and seasonal real ales. The brewery supplies it’s beer to local pubs including The Coach and Horses which is on the same site as the brewery.

Cask at Coach and Horses, Norwich. A brown/amber coloured pour with a decent fluffy white head on top. This was clearly a very fresh pint. Sweet fruity aroma. Tastes of dark fruit, caramel, quite sweet, malty a little thin.

Cask @ GBBF 2010, Great British Beer Festival, Earls Court Exhibition Centre, London, England.Clear dark brown color with a small to small average, frothy - fizzy, good lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, dark malt, sour malt, smoke - chimney notes. Flavor is moderate sweet and moderate to heavy bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is watery to oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20100804]

Cask@GBBF2010. Black colour, small brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, toffee, fruits, wood and some mild brown sugary notes. Flavour is quite much the same along with some wood, liquorice and mild burnt sugary notes.

From cask. Pours hazy dark brown with a fully gone head. Aroma is mild liqourice and roasted malt. Fruity, malty and roasted breadish malt. Roasted and caramelish malt finish.

Cask (handpump) @ The Alexandra Tavern, Norwich, England NR2.Clear medium orange color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is light to moderate malty, hay, moderate hoppy, grass, flowers, citrus - lime notes. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Refreshing. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. (310708)

Half pint handpulled at The Coach and Horses during our pub and beer pilgrimage to Norwich in Sept. 06. Golden body. Missing head. Light hoppy aroma. Light, but lingering fruity notes in flavour. A bit watered mouthfeel (25.09.2006).

On cask at the Coach & Horses Norwich 25 Sep 06. Clear golden colored. A shortlived head. Hardly any aroma. Watery taste. Some bitterness little by little.
