Pours black into a snifter. Mocha head with good retention recedes leaving spidery sheets. Chocolate covered berry aromas. Thin with dark chocolate and espresso upfront turning to mild blueberry before the lasting charred espresso finish.

650 ml Bottle. Pitch black color, thin lasting tan head. Aroma is chocolate, weak berries, faint roast.

Berry juice hints with a weak roasted malt backbone. Not quite a full body. There is a lot of bitterness in the finish that comes off as pine or bitter chocolate. ABV is mostly hidden. Yeah, it is drinkable but was expecting a bit more from this. Overall, average at best.

12 ounce bottle. Pours a bright brassy golden color topped by a small rocky white head with nice clinging lace. Perfumy hop aroma is redolent of peach and pineapple. Flavor is a mirror of the nose, with notes of dank citrus and warming alcohol. Complex tropical fruit throughout. There is an underlying caramel malt backbone as well. Another fine IPA effort from Stone.

10 oz pour on draft at B Side, served in a wine glass. Black with fluffy tan head. Aromas of roast, milk chocolate, cream. Tastes of big bitter roasty notes, dark chocolate, caramel, coffee. Medium-full body with a dry finish. Creamy mouthfeel. Don’t really get the berries.

Bomber from Whole Foods Charlottesville. Dark brown, large foamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of big, strong roasty notes and hints of dark berries. The taste is tart berries, roasted malts, coffee. Bitter finish. Full bodied, chewy, lingering bitterness. This is a big, bold stout but it’s tasty.
