Description
Sixpoint was founded in 2004 (we like to say it was born at the dawn of civilization, though that’s a story for another time…) in the rough and tumble neighborhood of Red Hook, BKLYN. It was essentially a cult brewery — draft-only, mysterious, cryptic…

In 2010 we released our canned creations, and have been tweaking, improving, and releasing new formulations ever since. Then in May of 2017, we took our biggest step forward to date, releasing all of our ales raw and unfiltered, and simultaneously incorporating new and incredible raw materials obtained over years of sourcing.

In November 2018, Sixpoint was acquired by Artisanal Brewing Ventures.

Location: Tap at Rattle 'N Hum, 4/17/10

Aroma: Nose is fairly dull, muted hops, light buttery notes, light caramel
Appearance: Pours a hazy amberish color with a head that leaves a good amount of lace
Flavor: The taste is also pretty muted, weak hop notes, metalic flavor, light butter
Palate: The body is light, and the mouthfeel (like the taste) is a bit metalic
Overall Impression: Somehow I haven't rated anything from Sixpoint before. Wow! I can't believe that. I've definitely had a few different Sixpoint beers over the years. Overall, I wasn't impressed with this one, it's mediocre.

Dark brown color, edge head. Aroma of Starbucks. Very light bodied, flavor is of over roasted coffee, just like a Starbucks. More like drinking a cup of coffee than a porter.

Dram House pint ($5): Pours a muddy brown colour... looks kind of like a brownstone. Can’t really comment on the head because it was poured for me without one. Aroma is yeasty, bready, and malty. You know it is going to be a little sweet and to no surprise when I tasted it, it was a little sweet, but in a good way. This is an all malt beer... almost no hops to be had, making it very sessionable as it is extremely well-balanced... letting you drink on and on because of the lack of either excessive sweetness or hop bitterness. I just wish I wasn’t so full with food when I drank this.

Bottle @ Miami Fandango ’10 gathering. pours brown/amber, no head. Aroma of floral hops, berry like fruits nose with hints of bitterness. Flavors, lots of dark fruits- prune-cherry, caramel malts, and floral mouthfeel, Found the finish to be a tad over bitter with a lingering yeasty mouthfeel. Did not pick up much of barrel aged in aroma or flavors.

Draft at Barcade. A good, standard stout. Dark brown pour with a strong, creamy beige hear. Very roasted malt aroma: Lots of coffee and milk chocolate. More burnt malts in the flavor, as well as some expresso and brown sugar. More cocoa and coffee, as well as hints of tobacco, in a dry, slightly bitter finish. Medium to full bodied, slightly chewy, smooth. A solid stout.
