Bomber from Bine & Vine. Pours dark brown/black with a dark creamy tan head. Aroma is very chocolate. Notes of dark toasted malt. Med body. Flavor is dark toasted malt, chocolate, and something roasty making me think of coffee. Tasty and flavorful stout. Finishes somewhat less than dry, but not much less.

Bomber from Bine & Vine. Pours translucent light copper with a slight white head. Aroma is a rather foreign fruity hop. Or a really nicely done American. It is intriguing. I’m thinking Nelson. Med body. Light roasty caramel and fruity hop for flavor. It’s really pretty bitter. It’s pretty hoppy. Nice drink.

22 oz. bottle, pours a murky dark amber orange with medium off-white head. Aroma brings out toasted nut, big caramel malts, and resinous hops. Flavour brings out shitloads of syrupy sweet caramel malts that seem extremely cloying at first, but then are balanced out a big wallop of resinous hops. Super viscous on the palate - perhaps the thickest IIPA I've encountered. The sweetness is quite dominating, which isn't my thing, but for what it is, it's not too bad in small doses. Tastes more like a hoppy barley wine. Surely not as bad as the average ratings suggest.

A can from Kaldi Coffee for about 220yen which is pretty good. The can has a cool simple design listing HPA which someone told me was short for Hawaiian Pale Ale. A dark yellow pour with a crazy thick head of foam with staying power. The aroma is fruity, slightly spicy with lots of fruity ale ester notes. The flavor is caramel malts with a soft bitter finish. Thick full mouthfeel which is nice. It is a decent enough beer, though it isn’t all that much like a pale ale as it lacks any real bitterness. More like a regular ale, sweet not so cloying, ok.

Deep hazy copper coloured body with a deep brown colour up top with a golden colour at hte bottom - neat, all with a nice, thick, three centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of yeast, bread, a bit of grapefruity hops and a lot of alcohol and malt. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong assertive medicinal and metallic flavours at first with a ton of alcohol, a lot of malt and a resiny sweetness and deep hoppiness. Aftertaste is super potent with the malt, alcohol and metallic bitterness really shining through and almost nothing else. Overall, a pungent, potent and deeply warming imperial ipa - not great and not really worth searching out for, even for this ridiculously low price (for the style/size). I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Super Jr. Market (BestDamnBeerShop) in San Diego, California on 06-May-2012 for US$4.99 sampled at home in Washington on 26-August-2012.
