500mL bottle pours with a clear amber to mahogany colored body that supports a tan head. The aroma offers up malts, crystal malts, woody hops, some pine hops and grassiness. The taste delivers a pleasing blend of sweet malts, crystal malts, a dash of molasses and toffee and then sliding into the hoppy notes. I get woody and spicy hops as well as pine hops and thin earthy tea. This is a pretty solid imperial red with a nice balance and sippability.

Bottle at Red Rock Brewing Co., Salt Lake City. Pours hazy black with a thinning, beige head. The aroma contains roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee, some hops and toffee. It tastes medium bitter with light sweet chocolatey hints and a toasty, medium long finish. Full body, oily texture, soft fizzy carbonation. Hides the ABV well, but a heavy drinker nonetheless. A balanced dessert beer for a good night.

Sample 3/4 at Red Rock Brewing Co., Salt Lake City. Pours cloudy dark brown with a lasting, foamy, off-white head. The aroma contains roasted malt, caramel, toasted bread, hops, herbs and nuts. It tastes light sweet and medium hoppy bitter with a long toasty finish. Medium body, slick texture, fizzy carbonation. Good, yes, but could have been so much better with a stronger palate... and more alcohol.

Sample 2/4 at Red Rock Brewing Co., Salt Lake City. Pours clear golden with a disappearing, white head. The aroma contains citrus, lime, gin, spices and some yeast. It tastes very light sour and medium spicy bitter. Medium body, slick texture, fizzy carbonation. An enjoyable, uncommon spiced beer, even at 4% ABV.

Sample 1/4 at Red Rock Brewing Co., Salt Lake City. Pours hazy yellow with a small, off-white head. The aroma contains citrus, wheat, yeast, some dough and hops (so no banana or clove). It tastes light yeasty sour and medium hoppy bitter. Medium body, slick texture, fizzy carbonation. The aroma wasn’t bad but it lacks the Hefeweizen characteristics. Too thin on the tongue.
