Sample at the Center Street Market taproom. Cloudy dark yellow pour with a medium thin bright white head that burns away steadily to a wispy film. Sparse strings of lace. Piney hop, citrus and malt in the nose. Medium body with flavors of grassy hops, grapefruit and bready malt. The finish is mildly bitter with a citrusy hop aftertaste. Decent overall.

AROMA: Slightly sweet with mild scents of malt, caramel and bread, followed by a hint of citrus.
APPEARANCE: Pours a clear, medium amber, with a 2-finger, dirty-white head that dissipates slowly, with excellent lacing.
TASTE: Initially, it is mildly sweet but then quickly transitions to mildly bitter. Flavors are hard to identify but I definitely get notes of burnt caramel and during the finish there is just a hint of of dark-roasted coffee bean. Based off the nose, the bitterness level is a little higher than I would have expected. It's not off-putting, just unexpected. The finish is moderately dry.
MOUTHFEEL: Medium-bodied with a slightly "rough" texture, and average carbonation.
OVERALL: I've enjoyed most of the other beers that I've tried from this brewer, but this one is my least favorite. I can't fault it on being another "me too" beer, as it is fairly unique in its flavor. So I give them props for doing something different.
For me, I think the biggest issue is the bitterness level. While it's not overly bitter, it does seem too bitter for the slightly sweet aroma. So every time I go to take a sip, my nose says to expect something sweetish, but then my mouth is hit with something bitter, which makes my brain say "no bueno".

AROMA: Slightly sweet with mild scents of brown sugar and malt. As the beer warms I start to get moderate scents of coffee and dark chocolate.
APPEARANCE: Pours an opaque black with a 2-finger, dark tan head that dissipates at a moderate pace, with moderate lacing.
TASTE: Slightly bitter with strong flavors of unsweetened dark chocolate and bold espresso. From the aroma, I was expecting something a little sweet, but the flavor is mostly a mild bitterness. The finish is slightly dry with a hint of milk flavor.
MOUTHFEEL: Medium-bodied but leaning towards full-bodied. Smooth and slightly creamy with above-average carbonation.
OVERALL: Honestly, this beer reminds me of a Guinness with the only differences being that the Guinness has a slightly smoother texture and has a touch of sweetness. Which is probably why I find myself really liking this beer.
