500ml bottle picked up at Westhill. It pours pretty much black with a tan cap. The aroma is rich roasted malt, bitter - sweet, umami, bitter dark chocolate, ripe cherry, rocky road and freshly roasted coffee. The taste is dry, rich roasted malt, bitter - sweet, toasty, light umami, dark chocolate, soft and real cherry character, light charr, hint of fruity acidity, coffee grounds, touch of spice and hint of alcohol to keep it in check. Finish is roasty. Medium+ body and average carbonation. I was worried this would have come across sweet or artificial, but they managed to strike a really nice balance to it.

Bottle from Westhill Service Station. It pours lightly hazy brown with a thick, fluffy yellow - white head. The aroma is earthy, woody, nutty, brown bread, biscuit, honeyed cereals and leather. The taste is dry, some bitterness, earthy, nutty, wood, resin, spice, leather, biscuit, dull caramel and brown bread. Finish is dry and nutty/spicy. Medium body and moderate, fluffy carbonation. Hides the alcohol pretty well imo. A decent strong ale.

Bottle from Westhill SS. It pours hazy dark amber with a thick beige head. The aroma is sticky, oily, resinous, toffee, ripe orchard fruitiness, earth and wood. The taste is dry, bitter, earthy, wood, resin, stickiness, dull smoke, leather, toffee, splash of orange marmalade, plum, spice, light tannin and a touch of booze with a drying and toothy finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. A strong ale in reality as opposed to the Double IPA on the label. Toothy. Unfortunately a hint of smoke to it, which I doubt was intented. So-so.

Bottle from Westhill SS. It pours lightly hazy with a thick, fluffy white head. The aroma is soft, fresh, fruity, definite tropical character, juicy pineapple and a touch of green banana. The taste is firmly dry and with decent bitterness, pithy, zesty citrus action, some tropical fruits, peppery spice, floury and grass with a drying, peppery finish. Average body and moderate, fluffy carbonation. A solid drinker. Quenching.
