Description
Artisanally brewed in Amsterdam since 2011.

Combining influences from the rich European beer culture with a non-conformist attitude.

From a family heritage of Swedish farm brewers and trained by the masters of ale and porter in England, we ended up in the Netherlands to create our own microcosm in the world of beer.

Inspired by the lesser known sides of European brewing culture and devoted to uncommon artisanal techniques, Butcher's Tears makes distinctive beers that progress beyond fashion and convention.

Bottle @ benzai’s single release party. Hazy golden yellow colour with a medium sized white head. Smells corn, bugles (type of crisp), herbs and spices. Tastes herbs, spices, malts, bitter. Refreshing, easy to drink, lasting taste. Thin to medium body, crisp, nice carbo.

Easy drinkable pale ale. Not bad, but not that good either. Just a decent brew.

Bottle courtesy of Deanso on the train. Poured a clear light amber with a frothy white head. The aroma is of apples. It’s smells of apple juice in fact with possibly a little cinnamon too. The flavour is weak bitter with some dry apple acidic sourness in the palate. Quite an unusual beer and not easy to rate. The yeast is there also in the flavour and long into the finish too. Very drinkable but very regional. It’s a beer that will appeal to locals but might be less appealing to foreigners who look for something else in a beer.

On tap at In de Wildeman, ABV 6%. Hazy amber colour, off-white head. Aroma of butterscotch, caramel, brown sugar, hint of sweet balsamic vinegar, smells like a watered down Flemish Brown, light spicy. Flavour is buttery, light toffee notes, some lemon, light Flemish Brown notes, medium-sweet finish. Light to medium-bodied.

Tap @ In de Wildeman. Hazy to cloudy light brown color, short head. Aroma of caramel, some tartness, bit to the lactic side (as I always think Lindemans is a bit of lactic and lacks a bit of the horseblanket and barnyard notes). Bit sweet in taste, soft sourness. Easy going beer.

Hazy blond with bright lacy head. Aroma is quite intense with resin and pine amongst some fruity hops. The flavour is similar. Initially very sweet and fruity with a very dry and bitter finish.

Bottle @ De drie dorstige herten, Utrecht at RBESG pre-event. A bit unclear orange to amber to red color, medium to full sized a bit creamy white head. Aroma is a bit weird, can’t really describe it properly. Taste is nice, some malts, hops, decently bitter, lightly some fruits. Medium body and carbonation. Could use a bit more aroma but it has a nice flavor.
