Description
Gargoyles brewery was started in a former cowshed in November 2005 by Roger Strudwick. In 2009, it was taken over by Andy Oakes and renamed Isca Ales.

500ml bottle. Pours a very dark brown with a small head. Aroma is spicy caramel malt with coffee and liquorice. Lots of dark malt throughout, with some coffee. Some apple in the finish. Not much carbonation. Needs work.

Pigs Ear. Clear brown beer, no head, Slightly smoky beer. Dark malt, tangy fruit. Finishes dry. Not too bad.

bottle from Budleigh Salterton (08/2010). Golden colour, small white head. Intensive aroma of elderflower. Shy malty base with lots of elderflower flavours.

bottle from Budleigh Salterton (08/2010). Goilden colour, small white head. Intensive (artificial) aroma of blackcurrant. Shy malty base, nearly not sweetness. Dry and sourish aggressive artificialblackcurrant flavours present. I think this is horrible.

bottle from Budleigh Salterton (08/2010). Hazy golden colour, no head. Aroma of strawberries. Sourish-fruity, strawberries on a malty base. Strawberry-flavours are well captured, perhaps it lacks a bit of sweetness to balance the tartness of the berries.

Cask-conditioned at the Wellington, Birmingham 31/08/10. Deep gold in colour with a slight white head. Big, apricot fruit aroma with a mineral edge. Sweet, fruity flavour with some prickly hops and moderately dry finish. Unusual.
