50 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden orange with a huge white head. Light cornish and slight caramelish aroma. Roasted and malty flavoured. Light metallic and cornish flavoured. Bitter and dry finish. Light cornish finish. Solid bitter and dy into the far finish.

Cask handpull at County Hotel, JDW, Ashford. Very hazy gold, no head. Banana estery aroma. It’s not as bad as I feared. However, the Germans have nothing to fear from this. NOt enough wheat for a kick off, still trying to be an ale rather than a full on wheat beer. It does make the usual mistake of trying to fall between 2 stools. Not a golden ale not a full on hefeweizen.

Amber with a small white head. Sweet diacetyl dominated aroma. Sweet malty flavour with strong diacetyl. Hops and roast malt in the finish.

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms, Bristol 02/11/09. Golden in colour with next to no head. Fruity, citrus and yeast aroma. Flavour had the bananas and cloves, with some grain and caramel, before a dry finish. Unusual, enjoyable drinking.

[Cask at the Back of Beyond, Reading, 28/10/2009] Clear, pale gold, no head. For something named hefeweizen this tastes strangely like a belgian ale - yes I got lemon and pepper, but also very distinctive belgian yeast flavours - sweet banana and clove and ham. Strange, but quite a reasonable beer nevertheless. 7/2/7/4/13 [Re-rate, cask at the Monk’s Retreat (JDW), Reading, 25/10/12] Pours a slightly hazy amber-orange with a light fizz and a small white head. There’s a little lemon, lots of banana and a bit of ginger, with a light bitterness in the finish.. Possibly a little greasy in the mouth, but it’s less sweet and more balanced than most wheat beers. Actually quite enjoyed this, which is more than I can say of most wheat beers. 7/4/6/4/13

Cask, gravity dispense, at the Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading. Straw coloured with no head; rich fruit aroma, but also slightly sour; the flavour has rich trpoical fruit, and is syrupy without being too sweet; the finish is dry, but also refreshingly fruity.
