Bath Ales
Commercial Brewery
in Bristol,
Bristol,
England 🏴
Owned by
St. Austell Brewery
Associated Venue: Graze Bar, Brewery & Chophouse (Bath Ales)
Established in 1995
Moved to Siston Lane, Bristol in the summer of 1999.
Having outgrown these premises a further relocation to their current site at Units 3-7 Caxton Industrial Estate, Crown Way, Warmley, Bristol was carried out during March 2004.
A 50 barrel brewplant is used. A small on-site brewery was installed at their new (2013) Graze pub in Bath and was used to brew Platform 3 beer (originally 5.7%, latterly 4.5%) and the occasional special.
The beers branded as Beerd were from a small-batch plant within the main brewery at Warmley.
Mid 2016 brewery bought out by St. Austell brewery, with the inevitable cessation of the Beerd brand and the brew plant in Bath.
Production of Bath Ales cask range has been reduced to just Gem, with the spare capacity used by St. Austell for overflow production of Tribute and other St. Austell beers.
Since late 2025 Bath Ales became just a brand of St. Austell

Bottled (BB 06/2008)
Dark amber color, small off-white head. Nutty hops and dried fruits in the nose. There is also woody or cardboardish hints. A bit caramelly, nutty hoppy, toasted malty ESB. Finish is short with hints of cognac or punsch. Caramelly, quite weak aftertaste.

Cask handpull at The Rake, Borough Market. Ruby with thin beige head. Some butter. Dull, doesn’t go anywhere. Toasty. Just not very good. Nothing wrong with it, but just dull.

Cask, Clifton, Bristol. Deep dark brown colour with a creamy, muddy white head. Prominent malt, brandy soaked fruit and chocolate aroma. Rich full bodied christmas pudding like flavour Decent hoppy finish. Enjoyable, but expensive at about £3.40 a pint in some knightsbridgesque bar.

500ml bottle from Waitrose. Dark chestnut; poured absolutely flat, with no head at all; chocolate aroma; thin body with thin tastes, some chocolate and coffee, but mainly water. Pleasant enough but lacking any fizz.

(Bottle 50 cl) Clear, orangey brown with a small, creamy, beige head. Roasted aromas - perhaps also with some burned caramel. Medium-bodied, a little low in carbonation. Lovely notes of nuts and a little burned malts. The finish is dry with some malt astringency. 110208
