Description
The Ayr Brewing Company brewed it's first ales in October 2009, and in a short space of time gained numerous awards at both local and national level. As a 5 Barrel Micro Brewery we are currently producing around 60 casks of ale a week and supplying pubs throughout the UK. We are the first brewery in the area for over 80 years and operate out of The Glen Park Hotel, where you can enjoy a delicious meal and our ales on tap in the bar/restaurant.

Bottles from The Beerhive (2015 and 2023). Clear deep golden body with a thin white head. Low carbonation. Good lacing. Aroma of honey, dried fruit and barley sugar. Flavour of sweet malts, stewed pear and caramel. Medium body with an oily mouthfeel. Soft fizz. Sweet and well balanced.

Bottle from The Beerhive. Clear golden body with a thin white head. Steady carbonation. Lots of lacing. Aroma of grass, floral hops, custard and pear. Flavour of apricot, lemon sweets, white sugar and a marzipan finish. Medium body with an oily texture. Soft fizz. A bit too sweet for me, but a decent Golden Ale.

11th Sep 2015: 500ml bottle poured into an ’Old Speckled Hen’ badged vase shaped pint glass at home in the ’Shires Virtual Bar’ day on the British Forum of RateBeer. Slight haze to the light amber bodied beer, the head soon fell away to a wispy covering from the true head it initially had. The aroma and taste were lending towards the malts more so than the mildly bittering hop content. Toasted semi-sweet maltiness is tempered nicely by the piny hops and the combination sits nicely. A decent thirst quenching blend that filled the lunchtime pint slot very well.

13th Aug 2015: cask pint at the brewpub, sat outside in the sun. Poured a golden amber with a thin white head. Aroma was of citrusy hops with grapefruit and oranges coming through. Taste also has a bitter grapefruit and orange feel to it. I liked all four of their beers I had that day.

13th Aug 2015: cask hand-pulled pint at the brewery tap, sat outside in the sun. Clear, proper golden body, full white head. Nose starts malty then turns slightly citrus with lemon and orange notes. Flavour follows the same path with a strong bitterness coming through towards the end of each sip.

On cask at the Kinloch Hotel, Blackwaterfoot. Appearance - golden amber with a decent head. Nose - hobnobs, wholemeal bread. Taste - more bread, slightly burnt in the oven. Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a fairly good finish. Overall - not exceptional but balanced.
