From BA: October 2007: This was my favourite beer at a beerfest that had 34 cask beers on handpull (Crown Inn, Oakengates). Really dark mahogony colour (I wonder where they got the name of the beer from?), with a fine thick off white head. Fantastic aroma of toasted malts and barley and really rich smell. For the taste, read the comments on the aroma. Intense flavour of roasted malt, difficult to remember it is only a 3.9% beer. Mouthfeel is rich like the aroma, almost viscous. A very good beer, I must visit try more of this breweries beers.

Cask at the Southampton Arms on 27th April 2012. Light amber with off-white ring of foam and thick initial lacing. Biscuit malt aroma with hazelnut scents. Nutty and biscuity in-mouth, with citric hoppiness developing. Richly malty finish with citric notes continuing but bitter kick as well. Pleasant, rounded ale.

[Cask at Chippenham BF] Deep amber-brown with a light fizz. Chocolate and a little liquorice turns to coffee and smoke in the deeply roasted (for a mild) dry finish. Lovely mild. c8
