The Melwood Beer Company opened its doors in March 2013 by husband and wife duo John & Julie Marsden. We are having one, huge adventure!

We are based in the heart of Knowsley Park in the old Kennels that once housed Lord Derby’s gundogs.

20/2/2019. Cask at the 20th Chelmsford Winter Beer and Cider Festival. Pours clear, almost black with a small bubbly beige head. Aroma of chocolate, dark fruit, hazelnut, toffee and caramac bar. Medium sweetness, moderate roasted bitterness. Medium body, slight oily texture, soft carbonation. Dry finish. Decent brew.

Sampled @ Brassigaume 2018. A clear pale golden beer with a mid-sized most good lasting off-white head. Aroma of mild citrusy hops, lime, yeast. Taste of lime, yeast, wheat malt, refreshing.

Sampled @ Brassigaume 2018. A black beer with a mid-sized most good lasting beige head. Aroma of roasted dark malt, chocolate, lactose. Taste of dark roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, lactose.

Sampled @ Brassigaume 2018. A clear amber beer with a small off-white head. Aroma of toasted malt, mild resinous bitter hops. Taste of mild citrusy hops, toasted caramelish malt, mild bitterness.

cask at baltic fleet. dark brown small light brown heaf. strong aroma of good coffee and hard roasted malts. alsi lighter notes of very dark chocolate flavor is hols and coffee with a base of hard roasted dark malts. crazy heavy flavor for the abv

Cask at Thokas Rigby's. Pours a clear gold with a white head that lasts throughout the beer and laces. Aroma has earthy citrus and straw with a bit of bread underlying. Flavor has light citrus and straw with a hint of grains underlying.

Cask at Baltic Fleet. Pours black with a brown head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma is full of roasted malts with dry dark grains underlying. Flavor has a combination of dark grains and roasted malts with a strong dry finish.

Black as the night with a fine thick beige head. Good lacing down the sides of the glass. Looks good and inviting. Fine aroma with a pleasant intensity. Medium body and a soft carbonation level. Balanced sweetness. Chocolate, roast and coffee. Mild easy drinkable stout.

Cask @ Baltic Fleet, Liverpol. Black with a thin off-white creamy head. It's a slightly sweetened stout with potent roasted malts in its aroma.
